so apparently the Her dating app, originally intended for wlw, is now being rebranded as a dating app for all queer people. the developers say this reflects “a fluid future”
listen. no matter how fluid the future may be, there will always be women who primarily or exclusively want to date women. and painting us as straitlaced or backwards is deeply harmful, to say nothing of the effects of taking away our dedicated spaces
and how come gay men or bi men who prefer men never get this kind of flack? I don’t see Grindr rushing to expand their demographic. hell, there’s even a dating app just for bears (Scruff). and yet, the entire wlw community isn’t allowed to have one thing just for ourselves?
(as always, this post includes trans women)
Yeah I mean, the Her app was always afraid to spell “woman” correctly, so this really isn’t suprising
Lol they just changed it the other day… why they ever had “womxn” as the spelling is beyond me
there’s a concerning trend of wlw spaces being turned into “queer” spaces. Wlw simply aren’t allowed to have anything to ourselves, and we’re expected to be “fluid” In order to be seen as “progressive”.
We saw it with the redefining of what it means to be a lesbian, with the push for “queer women” instead of “lesbians and bi women”, and it’s carrying over into the real world and having real consequences.
